Lars Stanley, FAIA, LEED AP

 

Lars is an architect and craftsman practicing in Austin since 1981. His projects focus on integrating the hand’s touch into the built environment and range from designing institutional architecture to making public sculpture.  He translates his passion for the process of making into the making of place, embedding human energy and an awareness of craft into a diverse range of built projects. His work has been widely published and has won multiple local, state, and national awards given for both architecture and craft.

 

Lars was selected to receive the first Texas Society of Architects Citation of Honor-Artisan’s Award in 1999, named an Outstanding Alumnus by the College of Architecture and Environmental Design at Texas A&M University in 2009, and elected to the College of Fellows of the American Institute of Architects in 2010.

Lauren Woodward Stanley, AIA

 

Lauren Woodward Stanley is an architect and co-owner of Stanley Studio, an integrated design practice she shares with Lars Stanley, FAIA that produces a wide range of architectural and metal work.  Drawn to the intersection of architecture and landscape, Lauren seeks sustainable design solutions that show a thoughtful response to the natural world, are responsible with resources, embed crafted detail, and offer a little poetry.

 

A University of Texas at Austin School of Architecture Masters graduate, Lauren worked at several design firms in Seattle before returning to Austin.  She is civically active as speaker, community builder, and in professional groups, engaged as co-founder and participant in advisory and professional groups focused on urban nature and green infrastructure that include Living City ATX, focused on equitable access to urban green, AIA COTE (Committee on the Environment), Biophilic Cities Network, City of Austin’s Green Roof Advisory Group, GRoWERS, a green roof advocacy non-profit, and the EM Franklin Green Street project with the City of Austin Neighborhood Partnering Program.
